Founder, Migration Expert & Advocacy Strategist

Passionate advocate of diversity and inclusion, Nancy advises on qualitative migration research and advocacy initiatives for the advancement of migrant rights. With more than 10 years of professional experience in dynamic roles as Program Manager and Public Relations Specialist, Nancy has worked on multi stakeholder projects that have required building partnerships with community organizations, civil society, academia, government and media to increase visibility and social impact of research and advocacy.

In the United States, she worked for over five years in the public sector to increase capacity building for community organizations and lead initiatives designed to improve educational attainment of immigrant communities and providing a safety net for the most vulnerable.

Since 2012, Nancy has participated and led regional and national advocacy efforts in Mexico which resulting federal policy changes to guarantee the right to public education for repatriated and deported migrants and their families. Nancy has also worked in research projects that explore the emotional impact of migration due to economic or political violence on returned migrants and Central American refugees in the (re)integration process in Mexico. She has engaged in transborder projects with migrant communities along the Mexico-United States border in Tijuana as well as with indigenous transnational families in the Mexico-Guatemala region.

Nancy also advises on migration flows between Latin America and the United States focusing on immigration enforcement policies and their impact on the vulnerability of migrant children and youth. She also has experience in comparative analysis of migration policies and programs in the North America and European regions. Other research interests include forced return migration; irregular migration; criminalization of migrants (crimmigration), the migration-education nexus; inclusion and (re)integration of migrants.

I believe in the power of information and ideas, and the importance of creating communication bridges so they reach a wide audience.
